A Brief History of TAFE in Tasmania
TAsTAFE is the largest provider of vocational education and training in Tasmania. Regulated by an independent statutory board, it was formerly known as TAFE Tasmania that was composed of the Institute of TAFE Tasmania and the Drysdale Institute.
These two institutes went defunct in 2008 and replaced by two new bodies—the Tasmanian Polytechnic and the Skills Institute—started providing statewide vocational education and training on 1 January 2009.
