This online course in Early Childhood Education and Care is suitable for anyone looking to work in Child Care or a related field. The course will prepare you for a rewarding career where you will provide care and assist with the learning and development of children.

Some topics covered in this course include: providing care for children, the holistic development of children, and many more. Please find a full list of units further below. Assessments will include a range of quizzes, knowledge questions and case studies. Students will also need to undertake workplace projects and observations and will be required to submit video evidence of their learnings.

Upon completion of this course, you will be issued with a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care by Foundation Education (RTO: 22557).

There is a work placement requirement for this course and students must apply for their Working with Children check at course commencement.

For mandatory work placement, students must have access to a regulated education and care service provider, with appropriate range of work tasks and ratios of children, AND access to a qualified supervisor. The supervisor will need to hold a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent.

Prerequisite & Entry Criteria

There are no formal entry requirements in this qualification.

Education
No specific educational prerequisites are required to enrol in this course. 

Parental permission
If the prospective student is under 18, a parent or guardian will need to sign their enrolment form.

External requirements
HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting is an external requirement and must be completed with an external provider.

Residency status
To enrol, the prospective student must either be a permanent Australian resident (or equivalent) or have the right to study in Australia other than on a student Visa.

Physical capability
Reasonable physical capability is required to complete this course. Physical activities required for the practical components of this course include (but are not limited to):

  • Supervising, interacting with and providing care services to children aged 0-6, including babies and toddlers.

Work placement

Students must complete 160 hours of work placement under the supervision of a suitably qualified person in an early childhood education and care workplace. The following units carry an attendance requirement of 160 hours; CHCECE033, CHCECE036, CHCECE035, CHCECE031, and CHCECE032. The 160 placement hours for these five units may be completed concurrently, making the overall work placement duration 160 hours. 

Workplace supervisor requirements
The supervisor must provide evidence of one of the below options:

  • Hold a Certificate III in an Early Childhood Education and Care or
  • Hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care

Working with Children Check (WWCC)

Students who are enrolled in this qualification must hold and provide a copy of their valid Working with Children Check prior to commencement of any placement activities. Note that the placement provider may have additional requirements. The student should confirm this with their hosting employer before commencement.

* This course contains a core unit, HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting, which must be completed through an external RTO. Foundation Education has an agreement in place with Red Cross Australia (RTOID 3605) which allows students to receive training for this unit at a reduced price. Red Cross Australia is a third-party training provider who conduct training and assessment services on behalf of Foundation Education. Please note that the cost of this external training is not included in any of your course fees.

Please note: This is a fee-for-service program.

*Payment plan total is $100 deposit + 78 weekly payments. Foundation Education uses the direct debiting services of Debitsuccess on payment plans. Payment plans will incur a $12 establishment fee, charged with the first instalment, plus a 3.63% transaction fee on each transaction. Weekly payment amount provided is already inclusive of the transaction fee.
